Hands
Summer 2002
This is my first serious project. I began the series when I realized
that all the work that I had done until that winter... well, had sucked. At that point , I was not working
with a concept, but rather with a drive to improve my technical abilities – and so I began from scratch and tried to
relearn how to draw. In order to do this I understood that I had to rediscover the underlying structure.
I chose to create a series using the human hand because of its compositional complexity. Once I
understood the nature of the hand I realized that I had discovered a simple way to draw pretty much anything.
There is a total of nine drawing that
complete this series.
